DISPLAY & DESIGN
Samsung Galaxy A50 built of a polycarbonate back with glossy finish design with vibrant colours feels premium in hand. It is a slim device with a minimum camera bump, FHD+ AMOLED panel makes it more premium furthermore it uses in-display fingerprint which also makes it more premium, but that is the biggest con of this device at the moment because it works very slow and sometimes didn’t work which is irritating users. Samsung must make attention towards this issue and try to fix via software updates if they can.
Samsung Galaxy A50 uses Corning® Gorilla® Glass 3 protection, which makes it more durable and scratch-resistant. It comes with infinity U display (U shaped tiny notch) as well.
PERFORMANCE & SOFTWARE
Samsung Galaxy A50 packs with Samsung’s own latest Exynos 9610 chipset which is based on a 10-nanometer process and capable to provide good performance, for normal users it works just fine, but for heavy users, it seems a bit slow.
This phone comes with Samsung’s latest One UI based on Android 9 (Pie), The software has many useful features such as dark mode, dual apps, secure folder, smart view, always-on display, device care, digital wellbeing, assistant menu and many more, the UI has a modern look and feel.
It’s true, the software has many good and useful features and the look and feel is also good and modern but we feel the software is a bit slow.
BATTERY & CHARGING
Samsung Galaxy A50 has a 4000 mAh battery which is enough for whole day usage for normal users, but for heavy users need to charge again in evening hours.
This phone supports 15W fast charging and a good thing is that it comes with 15W fast charger in the box, we don’t know why but surprisingly it takes more than 2 hours for a full charge which is not so fast.
Samsung Galaxy A50 packs with triple rear cameras including the 25-megapixel main shooter with aperture ƒ/1.7, it performs well and takes good shots in the daylight conditions but in low light struggles a bit. It has 8-megapixel ultrawide angle camera which covers ultrawide areas in photos and takes good ultrawide shots, the 3rd camera is 5-megapixel live focus camera which is for depth sensing.
For the selfie lovers, it provides the 25-megapixel camera with aperture ƒ/2.0 which is also capable to take good shots in daylight conditions.
users can take good bokeh shots with the front as well as rear cameras, but we feel edge detection is not that great.
The phone has a single speaker in the bottom, but the sound quality is good enough and loud, it also comes with Dolby Atmos sound but for that users need to use headphone.
For the calls, the earpiece is also good and provides a clear and crisp sound.
This phone comes with dual 4G VoLTE support and works better with Jio sims in both slots, as well as Jio and Airtel sims simultaneously. Network signal reception is also good.
FACE UNLOCK AND FINGERPRINT
The phone supports face unlock but it’s a bit slow, also not much secure sometimes didn’t recognise the face as well even in daylight conditions, but sometimes works well even in the dark night, might be a software issue which can be fixed via software updates.
This phone comes with In-display fingerprint which is the latest technology but it does not work well, sometimes doesn’t recognise the fingers, don’t know it can be fixed via OTA updates.
Overall it is a good mobile with Samsung branding under ₹20,000. It is a good package for entertainment purpose, especially for those who love to watch videos and take photographs, Gaming also can be done smoothly, but users might compromise with the fingerprint sensor and face unlock. One more issue we found while receiving calls, there is the only ring for a few seconds and after 3/4 seconds the screen lights up which might be irritating for some users.
AVAILABILITY: This phone is available via online stores like Amazon, Flipkart and via offline stores as well.
